“Love is patient, Love is kind . . . Love never fails” 1 Cor. 12
We began the week with these words – words describing God who is love; words describing our call to love one another. We desire this kind of love and we also know we struggle to love like this.
On Sunday the Sisters were happy to have among us a family celebrating the birthday of their mother. They witnessed to this love and welcomed us into the midst of their joy. Their kindness and love spilled over into the Sisters’ ministries as they generously contributed to the “farm”: gardens and animals in honor of their loved one.
The Sisters’ also gathered this week for an afternoon to listen and share about our lives together and gratitude for our present realities and our hope for the future. We shared our desire to grow in our love and care for one another following the example of our Redeemer.
A young woman from Germany is visiting us to participate in our ministries and so she began her second week of serving in soup kitchen, food cupboard and garden ministries. She is an example of a life seeking to reach out in love and we are grateful for her presence among us this month.
Sr. Dorothy Rose celebrated her Feast day on Feb. 6th and shared that Dorothy means “Gift of God.” That we could remember this for ourselves as well!
On Wednesday evening the Sisters gathered for a presentation on Women’s heart health – appropriate for this month of Valentine’s day! As women and religious serving the health needs of others we need to remember to love and care for the physical health of our bodies as well as our spiritual needs.
We have a God of unconditional love. We are weak and imperfect but because God first loved us we have the grace to get up and seek God’s help in responding to the call to love each new day.
