Week of March 24th – A Holy Week

“And Jesus continued on his way towards Jerusalem” (Mark 11).

This week is about journeying with Jesus in his mission – sharing and proclaiming God’s love; giving glory to God.  This is also our mission.

As Sisters of the Holy Redeemer we strive to contemplate, live and proclaim the mystery of Redemption.  This is truly a Holy Week for us.

This week we

celebrated Palm Sunday with our many guests, beginning with a procession of palms into the Chapel and concluding  with the solemn ringing of bells ushering us into Holy Week.

gathered for evening Mass on Monday and a sharing on the Gospel in which Mary washed the feet of Jesus – an act of love exemplifying the lavish love of God for us.

witnessed the quiet opening of a new Food Pantry in North Philadelphia at one of the Sisters’ ministries.  We congratulated Sr. Kim for her role in planning and implementing this ministry of feeding the hungry.

welcomed home three of our Sisters after their important visit with our Sisters in Germany as we seek to be attentive to God’s Spirit at work  in our congregation.

entered into the Triduum with the Holy Thursday Liturgy with the washing of the feet – reminding us to love as Christ as loved us; to serve as Christ served us.

recounted the love of God that led to the Passion of Christ on Good Friday with a service .  In the evening we recalled the ongoing passion of so many in our world today through a dramatic presentation “Come into My House.”

Now we continue with a quiet day of reflection and preparation for the great celebration of Easter!
