Week of July 28th – Praying through the Days

The Scriptures for the past Sunday were a great deal about prayer.  So this will be the lens through which we look back over the Sisters’ happenings this past week.

First there were many farewells as guests visiting for the Profession of Perpetual Vows returned to their various homes.  Thus there were many prayers of gratitude for their presence and for safe travels.

Then the Sisters celebrated the feast of one of our Patron Saints – St. Alphonsus Liguori.  Special morning and evening prayers helped the Sisters reflect on the life and spirituality of this Saint who had a special concern for those living in poverty and the margins of society.  St. Alphonsus continues to call us to be attentive to the needs of others in our world, our neighborhoods today.

Our Sister Alphonse also celebrated her feast day on this day so we kept her in our prayers.
On Friday three of our Sisters left for Germany to participate in an international meeting of our Congregation that takes place every 5 years.  We sent them off with the traditional blessing song “Queen of the Sea”, a blessing at the end of Mass, and our unique farewell at the front door.  We pray for their safety in traveling and for all our Sisters who will be participating in this special meeting – May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and direct us in God’s ways.
