“Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.” These words are from the Responsorial Psalm 117 last Sunday. This shortest Psalm simply praises God.
This past week gives the Sisters cause to share the Good News and sing Praise to God.
Five young women began orientation for a year of service, community and faith as Redeemer Ministry Corps volunteers. Several of the Sisters participated during this introductory week by sharing our history, spirituality, community, mission and prayer. They will begin their various ministries after Labor Day. Welcome!
The women who participated in the come and see Retreat for Daily Life departed to return to work and school. We hope they carry the experience of prayer and community with them as they go.
Several Sisters attended the Blessing ceremony for two newly renovated floors at one of their ministry sites. The Blessing included all the staff who daily carry out the task and priveledge of caring for the elderly; the space in which this sacred ministry is carried out and especially the Residents who depend so much on others and an environment that provides care, comfort, and healing.
The Sisters also celebrated 164 years since Mother Alphonse Maria was inspired by God to found the Congregation in Alsace-Lorraine France in 1849. The Spirit of Jesus the Redeemer that Mother Alphonse couldn’t resist continues to call us to be disciples that share the Good News in our daily lives of prayer and service.
And at weeks end the Sisters happily welcomed home two Sisters who had been in Germany for the month of August involved in a special gathering of the Congregation. The gift of community is felt in such a tangible way when Sisters return home – as each Sister’s presence is such a significant aspect of the “character” of the group. Welcome Home!
May you have many opportunities to praise God and share the Good News in this coming week.
