St Paul reminds us to ” . . . pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.” for the honor of God (1 Timothy 6:11, 16).
This past week there were many new beginnings and experiences in the US Province of the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer as we entered into the new month of October. In each of these endeavors the words of St. Paul remind us why, how, and for who we are called to participate in these activities.
Last Sunday evening this year’s Oktoberfest came to a close – a beautiful weekend and a successful event. We are grateful for all the love and patience of the many individuals involved in planning and volunteering for the event!
On Monday we resumed Monday evening Mass which will take place on the final Monday of each month. The new group of Redeemer Ministry Corps volunteers joined us for the first time in this act of devotion and faith. We all enjoyed a simple supper afterwards gathered around the table.
On Tuesday the celebration of St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, reminded us of the simple, little ways we can live a life of faith, love, gentleness, patience and righteousness.
On Friday the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi reminded us of the beauty of creation and the presence of the incarnate God in all life. We celebrate a man of righteousness, faith, devotion, love, patience, gentleness. A blessing of the animals followed Mass. Tilling and clearing of a field in preparation for winter planting also began this week. we are grateful to be a part of creation and realize our interdependence with creation.
Several Sisters attended an event Friday evening to raise awareness and funds for employees throughout our ministries who are experiencing illness. Thank you to all who made this event of love and faith possible!
Saturday brought many activities. A workshop on Catholic Social Teaching for new members in religious life brought many to the Provincialate for a day of learning and sharing about the centrality of love, charity, and justice as followers of Jesus. This is our life as religious women and men. Following the workshop new members of the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer gathered with their directors to share a meal and prayer together as we reflected on the day.
Sr. Linda shares her gift of organization and visioning in the opening of a new art gallery in collaboration with several local artists with the mission “Creatively transforming lives.” The opening of Valley Lake Gallery took place Saturday with open house, blessing, refreshments, and presence of artists. A beautiful new ministry, location, and day. Thank you, Sr. Linda for creatively carrying out our mission of hope and healing!
And we celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of a couple who are very much a part of our daily lives at the Provincialate – helping us carry out our mission and ministry of hospitality. 50 years of love, devotion, patience and commitment is an inspiration to all!
As we enter this new week let us pray for the grace to continue to pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience and gentleness each day for the glory of God.
