“I saw the Spirit come down like a dove . . .” (John 1:29-34). These well known words of John the Baptist have come down through the ages and continue to speak to us.
Here is an invitation to notice the Spirit in our lives today!
The Sisters of the Holy Redeemer reflect upon the presence of the Spirit this past week:
Sunday was the conclusion of the Winter Formation Retreat for new members in the community and their directors. The presence of the Spirit was surely experienced as the group prayed with Jesus our Redeemer and our Foundress, Mother Alphonse as we celebrate her 200th Birthday this year.
On Monday, in remembrance of Martin Luther Kind Jr. and our Foundress, Redeemer Associates, Sisters and Employees throughout the Sisters’ ministries participated in various service activities in and around Philadelphia – the Spirit’s generous presence was abundantly visible in each of the individuals.
Then snow and more snow arrived along with frigid temperatures (at least for this area). Little snow flakes swirling about remind us of the Spirit sprinkling graces over the earth. And the warmth of the Spirit strengthens us!
Redeemer Ministry Corps volunteers left for their mid-year weekend retreat on Friday along with their director and one of the Sisters. Prayers for them and the gifts of the Spirit accompany them.
One of the Sisters drove north to participate in a small parish vocation day workshop – sharing her story of how she became a Sister and what the life is about. The day was blessed by the presence of the Spirit in the beautiful young people and the generosity and hospitality of the parish community. What an experience of Church!
What were your Spirit sightings this past week? We pray that we and you may have hearts open to noticing the Spirit at work this new week.
