Jesus invites us, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves” (Matthew 11: 25- 30).
Imagine Jesus with outstretched arms welcoming you; welcoming you and inviting you to give him all your cares and worries and let him walk with you, carry them with you . . . You don’t have to go it alone.
The Sisters of the Holy Redeemer are grateful to have received this invitation throughout the past week.
A few of the Sisters returned from their annual retreats where they received the spiritual and physical rest and renewal offered by Jesus. One Sister shared her experience of being held by God, which offered her a great sense of peace.
The Sisters hosted a Retreat in Daily Life for young women discerning the invitation to Religious Life – a life journeying with Jesus in a unique way. the participants were able to experience service, prayer, and community with the Sisters. We are so thankful for their response to the invitation to “come and see.”
One of the Sisters was summoned home to Germany upon receiving the news that her oldest sister (also a Sister of the Holy Redeemer) was being invited into eternal life – completing the journey of her life. They were blessed to be reunited before her sister took her last breath and entered into Jesus’ arms and rest for eternity.
On a lighter noted the young Guinea Hens were moved into the Sisters’ community garden where they have been invited to take up their mission of bug control, bringing some rest to the gardeners.
Perhaps you will take some time today at the beginning of this new week to imagine Jesus sharing this invitation with you. What does he want to share with you? How does he appear to you? May you experience the rest that Jesus offers knowing you don’t walk alone or carry you burdens alone.
